To quote the President’s monthly message to the passengers: “The wheels of scientific and technological progress keep spinning taster and in an era of constant and rapid change we read news about ultra-modem devices and solutions. Development of digital technologies is an inevitable part of this process as they make the information exchange faster and help the environment. For instance they sufficiently reduce the paperwork and wood cutting.

UlA, from its side, takes advantages of the digital revolution. From now on you can turn Panorama pages using the Attitude mobile application and have opportunity to read it not only onboard but at any time and in any comer of the world. And if you like an article you can easily find its soft copy as the previous issues of our inflight magazine are also available in the application.

This month instead of the limited selection of printed media in the Business Class cabin we will after you a wide variety of the world’s leading newspapers and magazines in our Press Reader application. Among the thousands of editions available you can find The Guardian, The Washington Post, Vogue, GO, Bloomberg Businessweek and over 6300 others. This step will reduce, the weight aboard the aircraft, fuel consumption and carbon emissions. We will continue to work in order to make this service available for the Economy Class passengers in the future.

We also keep on developing the project that will allow the UlA’s passengers to use the satellite internet onboard. This spring we are expecting the changes to the Ukrainian legislation, which will finally give us opportunity to offer our passengers Wi-Fi onboard Boeing 777—200ER. And otter the launchof the inaugural project on Boeing 777-200ER we will start preparation tor the expansion of this service on our medium haul aircraft.

So use the advantages of digital technologies, travel and share your impressions. And UlA from its side will take care to make your journey sate and comfortable!”

Thanks for choosing UIA!
Enjoy your flight!

Air Namibia prides itself with a very high level of passenger inflight service, and Skytrax has awarded them the second best regional airline in Africa for a third time in a row. The airline welcomes all new visitors and tourists to Namibia to explore nature, the fresh air, open skies, and the land of endless horizons. Namibia is home to vibrant cities and a welcoming population where people are excited about the future, while remaining deeply connected to their rich, cultural past. The country’s stable, democratic government and infrastructure allows tourists to move freely and safely  be it in the major centers or off the beaten track.

By featuring Flamingo as one of our launch partners at Altitude, we are hoping that many new travel fans will learn about all that Namibia has to offer, and will take it upon themselves to visit this amazing country. We encourage you to experience Namibia for yourself, and then encourage others to do the same. The beautifully presented pages, articles and photos that appear in Flamingo are a  testament to the beauty and inspiration that awaits all visitors to Namibia.

Lao Airlines inflight magazine is on the Altitude appIt gives us great pleasure to welcome the Lao Airlines inflight magazine Champ Meuanglao to the Altitude app. Lao Airlines is the flag carrier airline of Laos, which is an increasingly popular tourist destination in South East Asia.

This first issue on Altitude is their January-February 2019 edition which features in-depth full feature photo stories on Ho Chi Minh City, the twelve traditional festivals of Laos, and Boun Wat Phou, as well as foodies guide to Vientiane. Champa Meuanglao typically includes a “What’s On” section which details a full list of colourful festivals and celebrations that are happening in Laos for the next few months.

A must visit destination for tourists has to be Siem Reap, and this issue of the magazine includes a 48 hours photo report on what to see when planning your visit visit when time is on a short budget. It goes without saying that the food in Laos is one of the key attractions as it is do delicious. The magazine is filled with all sorts of great ideas and restaurants to visit and local food to try while visiting Laos.

For any tourists planning a visit to South East Asia, our advice is to also include a visit to Laos flying on Lao Airlines, which operates an extensive route network to all major cities within Laos and neighbouring countries, as well as to numerous destinations in China.

Altitude is a brand new (and FREE) travel app geared to global travellers and frequent fliers. The Altitude app aggregates inflight magazines from leading airlines all over the world, which are available for free download via the app so readers can enjoy on-the-go-reading of their favourite travel destinations.

Up until now, airline inflight magazines were only available for passengers via the seat-back pocket, or in some cases via antiquated systems on airline websites. For the past 50 years, the airline inflight magazine essentially died after the issue’s one month publication date expired. The valuable information within the magazines died a premature death, and the content simply could not continue to promote the airline destinations when it passed the one month expiration date. Also, interested travellers and frequent fliers could not easily access this valuable information, that airline invest so much time and money in creating.

All these problems are now a thing of the past, as the new Altitude app delivers current and past inflight magazines to an engaged, mobile audience on an international level, with ease of download and relaxed reading that all can enjoy.

The launch partner airline inflight magazines that are presented in the Altitude app at time of launch in early 2019 include the following:

Adria Airways / Aurigny / Azerbaijan Airlines / Air Vanuatu / Lao Airlines / Ukraine International Airlines / WestJet

The life of the airline inflight magazine is typically for the one to two month span of publication while it is accessible by airline passengers in the seat-back pocket. Airlines spend vast amounts of money and effort in creating their inflight magazines to promote their destination news and highlights, and brand awareness among existing passengers. However, once the magazine reaches the end of its publication date, the usefulness of the magazine typically experiences a rapid decline. This does not have to be the case.

Some airlines will try to extend the life of their back-dated inflight magazines by posting them on their website, but explained in the video on this page, this is an old school approach that is riddled with low user experience and almost negligible engagement with passengers and those interested in the brand. And this does not have to be the case. (Continued below the video)

The Altitude app solves this problem on many levels: We have invested significant funds in the development of our app, and our member airline magazines can be downloaded for on-the-go-reading on mobile devices. The attraction for the reader being:

  • A wide variety of international airline magazines all under the same roof
  • Reading convenience and comfort that simply does not exist in online web based systems
  • Altitude app offers a far superior reading experience than any form of online magazine presentation that exists today

Altitude app provides airlines with global reach for their inflight magazines past and present, with interested and engaged frequent fliers and global travellers, delivering their brand and destination news to many thousands of readers and potential customers that their own websites simply cannot deliver via old-school inflight magazine presentation.
